How to play

A cloud of dots flashes on screen for about a second, then vanishes. Type how many you saw and submit. An exact answer, or one within two of the real count, extends your streak; miss by three or more and the run ends. Every few correct answers the swarm grows, so counting stops working and estimating takes over.

Tips

• Your brain can only truly count four or five dots at a glance. Beyond that, chunk the screen into small groups and add them up.
• Close counts. Being within two of the real number still extends your streak, so commit to a confident estimate instead of freezing.
• The dots never overlap, so a cluster that looks dense really does hold more dots. Trust the density.
• Sweep the corners before the flash ends. Stray dots near the edges are the easiest ones to miss.
